Traditional beef stew with tender beef, potatoes, and vegetables in rich gravy. Perfect comfort food for cold days.

Season beef with salt and pepper, brown in large pot.
Remove beef, add onion and garlic to pot.
Add tomato paste, cook 1 minute, then add beef back.
Add broth, Worcestershire, thyme, and bay leaves.
Simmer covered 1.5 hours, add vegetables, cook 45 minutes more.
Mix flour with water, stir in to thicken, cook 10 minutes.
Brown the beef well for maximum flavor in the stew.
Add mushrooms, parsnips, or turnips for different vegetables.
Store in refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
