Cut avocados in half, remove pits, and scoop into large bowl.
Add lime juice immediately and mash to desired consistency.
Mix in diced onion, tomato, cilantro, and garlic.
Add jalapeño, salt, and cumin if using.
Taste and adjust seasoning with more lime juice or salt.
Serve immediately with tortilla chips or cover tightly.
