Crusty French Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Bread flour
  • 1.25 cups Warm water
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil

Instructions

    Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand 5 minutes until foamy.

    Mix flour and salt in large bowl. Add yeast mixture and olive oil.

    Knead dough on floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth.

    Place in oiled bowl, cover, and rise 1 hour until doubled.

    Punch down, shape into baguette, and place on baking sheet.

    Cover and rise 30 minutes. Score top with sharp knife.

    Bake at 450°F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
